HUMBOLDT COUNTY'S FIRST EVER RESTAURANT WEEK IS HERE
It’s the first ever restaurant week here in Humboldt County. This nation wide event began in New York City and has now made its way to the North Coast.If you’re looking for fine dining or just a quick meal, what better way to dine out than at one of your local restaurants."You spend money in our community, the money goes back. As well as the local farms. Supporting them is vital to our small community."Restaurant week is an event that invites the community to come out and sample local establishments at a discount rate. "It just promotes this awareness. That this community thrives by the people being involved with the businesses. And to keep that strong is going to keep our community strong."Born and raised here in Humboldt County, Smith is the executive chef at the award winning Carter House 301 Restaurant in Old Town Eureka. He hopes this week will show people that Humboldt County has lots to offer. "People don't always realize that you don't have to go to the city to have extremely fine dining. You can come right here to eureka.Over 15 restaurants are participating in this weeklong event. Humboldt Brews in Arcata is one of them. "We do things outside of Humboldt Brews, participate in festivals and events and get our name out there and support as many business as we can."Supporting your local businesses and community is really what this event is about.
