New Details Emerge about the Vehicle involved in Thursday's Fatal Hit & Run Collision

  Eureka, CA- New details have emerged about the vehicle involved in last week's fatal hit and run collision in Freshwater. There are still a lot of details that are not being released due to the integrity of the investigation. We've learned where the vehicle ended up after the collision, and how the person of interest was apprehended.“It was a very tragic event And when people learn the full details of this there's going to be very upset." Said Eureka Police Chief Mural Harpham.There are still unanswered questions regarding the hit and run collision. It caused the death of an HSU professor, the death of a beloved dog, and caused major injuries to two others. The suspect fled the scene, dumped the car in Eureka and that’s where Eureka Police stepped in.Harpham said, “We received a call of a suspicious vehicle, parked in the area of California and Del Norte." He says the windshield was smashed, both side mirrors were damaged, both front headlights were damaged, and then there were some marks across the top of the car.Harpham also stated, “We were able to trace the possible person of interest to a house a few blocks away and our POP unit, and a investigator form the DA's office staked out on the house.”Within a couple of hours, Jason Anthony Warren walked out of the house.District Attorney Paul Gallegos says, information is being withheld because evidence still needs to be collected and analyzed.  Investigators want to solidify the case before charges are filed. The vehicle has been seized and is in evidence.
