Family Reveals Homicide Victim: Ulrich was Scared
Hoopa, CA- It’s been one week since the discovery of Dorthy Ulrich’s body in Hoopa. We’ve learned details about what family members say happened in the days leading up to her death.
As Shirley Ortega, Dorothy’s mother looks through a family photo album. She remembers the last conversation she had with Dorothy. Ortega says her daughter told her that she was scared.
When her mother asked why, she says Dorothy told her, “There’s a lot of things going on in the valley you wouldn’t understand.”
Dorthy Ulrich was only weeks away from her 48th birthday. She was a wife, a mother, and grandmother.
Authorities are still investigating what actually happened inside of Dorothy’s home.
In keeping with Native-American tradition, the family has left the lights on… to ward off evil spirits. They won’t go inside of the house.
What maybe the most crucial part of evidence in this case is what was seen on the outside. Investigators have not confirmed this but Maria Ulrich, Dorothy’s sister-in-law claims that surveillance video does exist.
Maria also says that Dorothy was seen with Jason Warren the day before. Warren is the person of interest in the homicide and the Freshwater fatal hit and run.
Dorothy was married to Tim Ulrich. Family members say she was the happiest with her husband, although his job as a truck driver kept them apart.
The family says they do not know why anyone would hurt Dorothy. They just want more answers and justice for Ulrich.
Investigators have not charged Jason Warren in connection with the homicide or the fatal hit and run.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday in Hoopa.
Dorothy’s ashes will go to her husband.
