HUMBOLDT -- Officers followed as the stolen Lexus came zooming through Eureka and in through Fortuna. It all came to a stop early Monday evening south of Alton.

The suspect, Michael Morino (sp?) out of San Diego, had allegedly driven off from a Eureka auto dealership in a stolen 2007 Lexus. Officers say he hit speeds of up to 120 miles per hour on highway 101 heading southbound.

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office continued the chase near College of the Redwoods. That's when C.H.P. deployed spike strips at the Kenmar exit in Fortuna to slow the Lexus down.

Morino then pulled over and was detained without incident. Officers arrested him for auto theft and felony evading a police officer in a motor vehicle. Morino was on probation for a previous D.U.I. arrest out of San Diego County.
