Eureka City Schools is discussing whether or not they want to re-open Winship middle school.  Superintendent Fred Van Vleck told News Channel 3 it’s on the board's agenda for Wednesday evening's meeting.  If the board votes to reopen the school campus, both Winship and Zane will become 6th through 8th grade campuses.  They hope to have it open to 6th and 7th graders starting in the fall of 2013, as they will not split up the incoming 8th grade class. If the vote passes Wednesday, Van Vleck says the district will immediately start looking for a new principal. "And we'll determine if that principal will come from inside or if we'll advertise externally. Once we have that new principal online we'll be looking at hiring a leadership team and then also having a leadership team at the Zane campus reinventing the Zane campus and what that is about. And then looking at this campus and inventing what this campus will be about,” Van Vleck said. The campus is currently operating as adult education and Zoe Barnum High School. Van Vleck says Zoe Barnum will likely be moved to the Lincoln building, which will be modernized with a previously set aside budget.
