COLLEGE OF THE REDWOODS CANCELS SCIENCE NIGHT
For 26 years Science Night at The College of the Redwoods has attracted people of all ages.But this year, the event had to be cancelled.CR had to focus on maintaining their accreditation and that came at the same time that planning for Science Night occurs.Science Night is a faculty-produced event. It started out as a way for the math and science department to showcase their projects. But with so much interest, the event grew and now more departments and outside organizations join in.Faculty start planning it in September, but this year CR had to work on recommendations for the college and submit a 300-page report which was just turned in on Monday. The program of developing, it starts pretty much the first day of school starts,” said Rachel Anderson, Dean of Academic Affairs. “So back in September, and pretty much the first day we returned back from summer vacation was — we have reports that we have to write, there was just too much.”Anderson said there was a chance of maybe having science night in the springtime, if the weather permits. Anderson said Science Night will be back next fall.
