OWNER SELLING OLD TOWN CARRIAGE COMPANY
Marty L’Herault can be hard to miss. He’s the only person with a horse and carriage, cruising the streets of Old Town Eureka.“Year-round for the past three years—once a week someone comes up to us and tells us how happy they are that we're here and that they hope I never leave,” L’Herault said.Charlotte McDonald the Executive Director for Eureka Main Street says he is much more than just a horse and carriage.“Marty is a wealth of history of information,” McDonald said. “So he really serves as an ambassador for Eureka Main Street and the community as a whole.”As happy as it makes him, there’s something else he wants to do — acting.“I moved to New York originally to be an actor, and I wound up being a horse and carriage driver,” L’Herault said. “So now I’m a horse and carriage driver and I want to move to New York to be an actor.”Marty first came to Eureka from New York in 1989 with his then-wife and started the horse and carriage company. After leaving Eureka in 1995 for the Midwest, he had to sell his company along with his horse, carriage and trailer. Something he’ll have to do again. “My sincere goal is to find someone to take over the business who is just as passionate about it, and keep it going for many years to come," L'Herault said. "Because I think it's just a perfect fit in Old Town, Eureka.”“It'll be easy to take over the company,” McDonald said. “It just will never be Marty.”
