FOOD FOR PEOPLE IN NEED THIS HOLIDAY
With the thanksgiving holiday just a few days away, many organizations are preparing to give back to those who are less fortunate. At least 400 meals will be served at the St. Vincent De Paul Dining Facility in Eureka. Places like these help those who need a little extra help with getting through the holiday season. With that many mouths to feed, we asked the question: Are you lacking in any food or supplies?Manager Michael Lovato says, " Absolutely not! You'd be surprised our little town; they're quite giving. Every year the community really steps up and the doors constantly open."One food recipient states, "Where there's food and warmth, there's people and there's friends and there's family and they're love and there's celebration.”As this dining facility celebrates, another major food provider, Food For People, say they’re lacking the essential holiday food staple.Harriet Pecot, with Food For People says, ”We are still in need of turkeys, still in need of ham. And honestly, we struggle to keep up with the need in Humboldt County."Although they have a full pantry of food, when you factor in the 12,000 people that will be receiving meals, sometimes it’s just not enough. Both organizations are optimistic that they will pull off a successful holiday season.
