McKinleyville, CA- It’s one of the busiest travel days of the year. Airports and highways filled with people traveling for Thanksgiving. The Arcata/Eureka airport let you in on some ways to make your holiday traveling a little bit easier.

So far so good, say officials at the Arcata/Eureka airport. Due to the pleasant weather today they have seen no major delays in flights. Emily Jacobs, the Airport Program Coordinator told us that all flights are on time. She added, “one flight was even able to leave early.”

However, to make sure you get a seat, you should always book your tickets in advance during this time of year. Jacobs said, "We do see a lot of student travel during the holidays which fills up our flights. So that’s really good when all the flights are full."

Full with people heading home to see there families for thanksgiving. One traveler told us, "my family is having quite a big gathering they do every year and I don't want to miss it and this is my one chance to see them this year so I’m just going to go down and see how there doing."

Another one added, "I’m going to see family its been a while since I’ve seen them. It's going to be fun for thanksgiving."

Another way to save time is by downloading the airlines app. Jacobs said, "One of the convenient things are the different web and phone apps that allow you to check on your flights so you can put in your number and the airlines will send you a text or send you an email if anything does change."

Airport officials also advise that you plan ahead and allow enough time for security checks and unexpected delays. Jacobs added we always suggest people come a little bit early also we suggest that you bring a good book and your patience."

Another way to make holiday travel a bit easier is by taking carry-on luggage instead of checking your bags.
