Humboldt County, CA- One of the Big Lagoon drowning victims is still missing. The 16-year old is presumed dead. They call him Geddie, which is short for Gregory. His friends set up a “Wear Green for Geddie” day, at his high school. It was at Big Lagoon where pounding, ferocious waves hit hard along the north coast shores; tearing a tight-nit family apart. They were swept into the ocean after trying to rescue their family dog.For students and faculty at Arcata High School, loosing what they call “the presence of the school, hit them even harder.Today they wore green in honor of Geddie.Geddie’s best friend, Blaire Floyd says, “They're wearing green because that was Geddie's favorite and green symbolizes life. We didn't want to wear black.”Three of Geddie’s close friends organized today’s event because they all agreed; he was full of life and chose to symbolize it through wearing his favorite color."We'd rather celebrate his life, rather than regret the fact that we don't have him anymore,” said Ruby Dickinson.Best friend, Ian Johnson says, "freshman year he died his hair green. That's how I’m always going to remember him...long shaggy green hair and it was his favorite color he says because whenever he looked outside, that's just all that he saw."The coast guard has canceled the search for the teen’s body. His parents’ bodies have been recovered. Friend of the family, Laura McNulty says, “They were a really close-nit family and they touched a lot of people in the community. They gave a lot to the community and it just hurts."It’s unfortunate. Their last act of love was shared with each other, but the love they shared with the community will live on.
