MEMORIAL FUND FOR LOCAL FALLEN NAVY SEAL

A memorial fund has been set up for Petty Officer First Class Kevin Ebbert, the Navy SEAL shot and killed in Afghanistan over the weekend. The US Department of Defense says the 32-year-old Arcata man died while supporting stability operations. He had been stationed at a naval special warfare unit in Virginia. The fund has been set up through the Humboldt Area Foundation. Anyone wishing to donate can walk in, or donate online under “Kevin Ebbert Memorial Fund”. The foundation says the money may likely become a scholarship to help fund students who would like to use their service time to be medical professional, a cause close to the deceased officer’s plans.
