FLOODING IN OLD TOWN NEAR EUREKA RESCUE MISSION: MISSION IS READY WITH SANDBAGS IN PLACE

EUREKA, CA- With the weather situation the Eureka Rescue Mission is expecting to be at full capacity tonight. If they reach full capacity the Extreme Weather Shelter will then open its doors.The corner of 2nd and A Street is flooded and the Eureka Rescue Mission has placed sand bags at the entrance to get ready for what they say will be a busy night.The mission says they will continue to stay open through the night. However, they can only house 63 people. If they get full the extreme weather shelter will open up at St. Vincent de Paul in Eureka. The extreme weather shelter only opens if the temperature reaches 32 degrees or below, or if over an inch of rain is expected.Rescue mission officials are doing their best to help those in need during the storm. Executive Director of the Eureka Rescue Mission Bryan Hall added, "coats we do get coats. Socks, socks are a big item. Many people come in and want socks an drubber boots.
