HUMBOLDT COUNTY GENERAL PLAN UPDATE: AN OUTSIDE GROUP WORKS TO MOVE THE PLAN FORWARD
EUREKA, CA- Humboldt County Board of Supervisors are holding a public hearing on Monday at 1:30pm at the county court house. Here they will continue a public discussion on The General Plan.
Humboldt County Board of Supervisors will hear a presentation from an outside group that was formed at the last general plan meeting. Supervisor Clif Clendenen added, "It represents many different interest. From environmental interest to property rights groups."
The unlikely group formed after they decided that it was best to work together. Clendenen said, "I think its important to look at the work these guys do but at the same time realize that’s not all the work."
County officials tell us that these groups have been meeting privately to review chapter 7 of the general plan, which focuses on infrastructure and transportation. Clendenen added, "One of the pitfalls of having an outside group, however well the intention of the group. They have been working in private. These are public processes."
The Planning Commission has been working on the revised version for 3 years now. Supervisor Clendenen hopes that this group can move the general plan forward. He added, “If this is successful in the long run then they can work on other chapter.”
