BODY OF MISSING PERSON FOUND ON NORTH JETTY: Coroner's Office Investigating Circumstances
The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office says say an adult male was found just above the surf line near the parking lot area by a passerby on a quad vehicle, and it’s that of a person who’s been filed with police as missing out of Rio Dell since December 2nd. They’re waiting to identify him pending notification of next of kin. The coroner’s office says their “big question” is how the body got to its location on the jetty… they say there was no vehicle associated him at the scene. They also say the condition of his body is not reflective of having been in water considering how long he’s been missing, though the body did have some minor lacerations. A witness tells the Coroner’s office he was at the jetty location on Monday and the body was not there… then 24 hours later it was. Stay tuned for updates on the pending identity and circumstances.
