FORTUNA POLICE USE "HOT SHEET" LIST TO KEEP DUI OFFENDERS OFF STREETS

The Fortuna Police Department is working with the Department of Motor Vehicles to keep habitual DUI offenders off the roadways. They’re taking part in a pilot program that gives police a “hot sheet” of names of people who should not be driving because of their license status; that way the department can identify who they should be looking out for.
DMV statistics show that over half of traffic related fatalities in the state in 2010 involved alcohol or drugs. Fortuna Police is the smallest agency in the pilot program, but they say it will streamline their work. Funding for the “hot sheet” program is provided by a grant through the office of traffic safety.
