ECS REACHES AGREEMENT WITH TEACHER'S ASSOCIATION OVER SCHOOL YEAR CALENDARS, BENEFITS
Eureka City Schools have reached an agreement with the teachers association to close contract negotiations for the 2012-13 school year. Part of the agreement; they’ve finalized their calendar for the next two years. District superintendent Fred Van Vleck says it was key in the negotiations because now families, students, and feeder schools to the district can start planning around the school year calendars instead of waiting to finalize them until the last minute, which has been the case in the past. He also says the agreement stipulates they start working on future calendars at least 18 months in advance.
The bargaining also affects benefits within the district. Eureka City Schools next board meeting is December 19th.
