APD: TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO NARCOTICS

$18,000 worth of meth has been taken off the streets by police after a traffic stop leads to a narcotics sales arrest.

Yesterday afternoon, a vehicle was stopped on Samoa Blvd. and Hwy 101. The APD officer says the driver was acting nervous and that prompted him to search the vehicle with the help of the drug task force.

4oz of meth was located in a hidden compartment in the car’s dashboard.

Officers then learned that the suspect had a storage unit in Arcata. Another 4 ounces of meth was found at the storage unit along with $1,700 in cash.

The identification of the suspect has not been determined. He was booked for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell.
