LOCKDOWN AT FORTUNA HIGH SCHOOL; POLICE SAY "STUDENT DETAINED FOR HIS SAFETY"

FORTUNA -- Fortuna High School is placed under emergency lockdown after an incident with an agitated student early Tuesday morning.
 
Around 11:30 in the morning, officers were called out for a situation involving one student.
 
Lt. Matt Eberhardt told News Channel 3 the student enclosed himself inside a room at school. When officers approached, he took off running.
 
Fortuna P.D. was able to catch up with him in the center grassy lawn area of the school.
 
The student was resistive but did not suffer any injuries when he was detained. Lt. Eberhardt told us the student was detained for his own safety, and there was no danger to other students. School officials placed the campus on lockdown as a standard preventative measure.
 
No weapons were involved in today's incident.
 
The lockdown was lifted around noon.
