60-car pileup closes I-5 in N. California
A section of Interstate 5 remains closed this morning after a 60 car pile-up near the Oregon-California border.
The crash happened around 6:30 Tuesday evening in the northbound lanes of I-5 in far northern California.
Officials say the massive crash began when a semi truck slammed into the concrete median.
There were patches of black ice on the road making it hard for drivers to avoid the semi and subsequent crashes.
Sixteen people suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Both south and north bound lanes of the busy interstate were shut down while emergency crews cleared the scene.
