Eureka City Schools Board of Education is set to vote tonight on who will attend Winship Middle School when it reopens to students in the fall of 2013. District Superintendent Dr. Fred Van Vleck says he’s recommending to the board that Winship be fed by Alice Birney, Grant, Cutten, Freshwater and Garfield schools. Lafayette, Washington, and South Bay will continue to go to Zane Middle School. He says the recommendation will keep numbers equal as well as balance socio-economic levels and ethnicity of students between the two schools. The recommended attendance boundaries are based on school of residence: meaning the school your home is assigned to attend.
After the board votes the district will open enrollment for the middle schools starting in January.
