‘Tis the season to give—and students at Fortuna High School are feeling especially generous.

"Our senior class is really—always trying to help out everyone else," said Fortuna High School Senior Hannah Bailey.

So for the holidays, students in Mr. Welcome Luv’s class found a way to help those in need.

“We decided to try and help two less fortunate families in the Fortuna area," Luv said.

That help includes a holiday dinner, presents for the kids and possibly some extra cash. They’ve donated money, brought in food and toys and put on a bake sale.

“Me and my friend made cupcakes, and other students made cookies," Bailey said.

It’s been a two-week process. The classes started talking about it last week, and then brought it all together this week.

"My seniors and freshman have been bringing them in bit-by-bit,” Luv said. “We have to have it all together by Friday, because Christmas is right around the corner."

Luv said he’s had classes sponsor a family in the past, but this year the goal is to help out more than one.

Bailey said everyone should have something to celebrate, and that money shouldn’t restrict that.

"It’s not really fair,” Bailey said. “So everybody deserves to have a good Christmas."
