STATE FINES SUTTER COAST HOSPITAL $10K, BOARD DISCUSSING REGIONALIZATION
Crescent City, CA- The California Department of Public Health issued 12 penalties Thursday to California hospitals, along with fines totaling $785,000. Sutter Coast hospital in Crescent City made the penalties list. CDPH investigations found the facilities’ noncompliance with licensing requirements caused, or was likely to cause, serious injury or death to patients.
The organization says Sutter Coast failed to ensure the health and safety of a patient when it did not “develop, maintain and implement a fire prevention policy and procedure.” The penalty is $10,000. This is the hospital’s first administrative penalty.
Meanwhile the board of Sutter Coast is launching an independent third party study into whether or not the hospital should regionalize, replacing their local board with a board in the bay area. The study is expected to wrap in March.
