A “No” on construction from Trinidad City Council concerning the construction a mini-round about in front of the lighthouse. The city received five thousand dollars from the Humboldt County Association of Governments to study the idea, but gave the money back. City officials say this just isn’t the right time for this kind of project, and they feel that the money can be better used in other parts of the county. Trinidad city mayor Julie Fulkerson also says a round about could ruin the beauty of the location during summer tourist season, and construction with new yellow signs and street paint may take away from the scenery.

"This is a historic point. It’s photographed frequently. And it’s a very popular viewing place. In fact we just had someone walk by saying they wanted to have their wedding here. And so we want it to be safe but we also want it to stay in its pristine condition," Fulkerson said Thursday.
