Arcata, CA- Historically, the Arcata plaza has been a gathering place. Whether you’re out walking, lying out on the lawn, or taking a bench nap; it’s enjoyable.

Halloween of 2011 brought in crowds, a weeks worth of trash, and left a city icon defiled and vandalized-- An estimated $30,000 in damages.

Arcata Police Officer Greg Pope says, " We'll be erecting barricades around the McKinley statue its self and we'll have several teams of foot officers in the downtown area."

That statue is off limits tonight.
