DRIVER HITS TEEN ON BIKE; FLEES THE SCENE

EUREKA -- A teen is hit while riding his bike at Central Avenue and West Henderson. The driver fled the scene.
According to Eureka Police, the teen was hit by a white sedan around 3:45 Thursday afternoon.
Initial reports from nearby witnesses say the driver took off just after hitting the teen.
Emergency crews attended to the injured rider, who suffered lower leg injuries and was transported by ambulance from the scene.
Fire officials say luckily, the teen was wearing his helmet. Officials tell News Channel 3 the injuries could have been much more severe.
At this time, Eureka Police continue to search for the suspect.
