RESIDENTS FIGHT NEIGHBORHOOD GROW OPERATIONS; RIO DELL CONSIDERS ORDINANCE
RIO DELL -- Residents are fighting back against marijuana cultivation in their neighborhoods.
After Thursday's meeting, Rio Dell city council members are considering medical marijuana regulations, that were proposed in response to residents' complaints about the negative impact of cultivation in the area.
The city says the proposal is very similar to the regulations adopted in Eureka, Arcata, and county-wide.
Approved indoor grows would be limited to 50-square feet, and use under 1,200 watts of lighting.
Outdoor cultivation would be disallowed unless they are securely contained in a greenhouse, and under 50-square feet.
The Rio Dell city council is set to adopt the proposed ordinance at their meeting on January 15th.
