The winners are in… And so are the first round of numbers for the Food for People hunger fighter challenge.
Food for people representatives say 12 groups exceeded their donation goals earning them a “gold star”…
In Eureka about 35,000 pounds of non-perishable food was collected and in McKinleyville about 9 thousand pounds.
The food that was collected will stay in the areas in which it was donated. Volunteers are currently working to count the remaining 12 pantries, but food for people is estimating a record high of 50,000 pounds for all Humboldt County.
