Crescent City, CA- Almost one million dollars in improvements are coming to the Crescent City Fire Department. The building was built in 1954 and currently is not seismically sound. Fire officials say this improvement grant is extremely important, has first responders; they need to be able to react quickly in the event of an earthquake. As it is, in 2005 they had to make the doors larger, so that the fire truck with the ladder could fit. This project will extend all the doors and strengthen all exterior and interior walls. The total estimated cost for the retrofit is about 1 point 3 million dollars.
