LOLETA MEAT MARKET OUT, BAKERY MOVING IN
Loleta, CA- The Loleta community is outraged after an 80-year-old business is being asked to leave. The building’s owner wants to expand his business into the space where the Loleta Meat Market sits.
Residents have trusted this business and the current owner for decades. The store owner’s name is Pixie. She wants the community to know that their support is appreciated.
Just like the three-legged dog that guards the front door; loyalty to the business is a trait that community members share as well.
Peter Vanderzee, the building owner says the eviction is a decision he had to make in order to sustain his own business.
"It never, never, dawned on me that the bakery would require, in order to be financially viable would require the removal of the meat market from it's location.” Said Vanderzee.
He’s thought about moving to another location but the cost is too great. Instead, he’s offered assistance to Pixie to move to another location. She says she will likely move to her other meat business located in Ferndale.
