2 HOSPITALIZED IN MAJOR INJURY CRASH ON HWY 101

Humboldt Hill- Two drivers are hospitalized with major injuries after a double vehicle crash. It happened just before ten Tuesday morning south of Eureka at the Humboldt Hill northbound onramp to the highway. The California Highway Patrol says it appears the red jeep liberty was merging onto Highway 101 and the female driver didn't see the white ford mustang that was parked on the shoulder and struck it from behind. Humboldt Bay Fire crews had to use the Jaws of Life to free the woman from the mustang. Highway patrol officers are still investigating the crash. The onramp was closed for about an hour while crews cleared the scene of debris.
