TRINIDAD, CA- Crabbers are back on the job and they’re not the only ones happy about crab season. Local businesses said they are busy with people eager to crack some local crab.

With the kick off of crab season local businesses told us they are booming. Erica Ervin, the manager of Seascape Restaurant in Trinidad said, "We put it on Facebook that we had fresh hot crab that just came out of the cooker and within a half an hour we had people coming in."

Ervin told us that after all the delays in crab season that they need this. Ervin added, "It’s just really nice to have the business pick back up."

And it has picked up; their phones have been ringing off the hook with people calling to see if they have local crab. Ervin said, "We have customers who were waiting for it…it’s very important to our business."

And important to the city of Trinidad with crabbers and their families coming into town. Brett Gregory works at Salty’s Surf Skate and Tackle in Trinidad and said, "It’s been really busy. A lot of hustle and bustle down by the pier."
He told us that people come into to town just to watch the crabbers, "It’s really interesting to see all the crab come in and see all the cranes lifting the huge buckets of crab onto the pier."
Ervin agrees, she says crab season brings the whole town back to work. Ervin said, "It just seems like there's excitement in the air when there’s crabbing."

And from the pier the crab goes straight into the local economy, traveling just a few feet to seascapes kitchen.
