FATAL COLLISION IN ARCATA; VICTIM HIT WHILE WALKING ON HIGHWAY

ARCATA -- A male victim is struck by a car and dies in the northbound fast lane of Highway 101 just past the Sunset Avenue exit.
Emergency officials told our reporter at the scene that the victim was walking on the highway when he was hit around 6:30 p.m.
California Highway Patrol Officers were unsure of exactly what he was doing on the road.
The Humboldt County Coroner's Office has not released the name of the victim, pending notification of next-of-kin.
They continue to investigate the collision.
The driver's car suffered front end damage.
