MAJOR COLLISION IN EUREKA; TRUCK LANDS UPSIDE DOWN ON CAR
EUREKA -- A major collision in Eureka ends with a truck landing upside-down on top of a sedan.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash; a red coupe, a Ford F250 pick-up truck, and a black GMC SUV.
Responding officers tell us the unlicensed driver of the coupe was heading westbound on Buhne, when the truck driver -- driving on a suspended license -- ran the stop sign heading southbound on C Street.
The two cars collided, sending the parked SUV over the sidewalk, and knocking over the fence of a neighboring home.
One person had to be extricated from the red car. Officials tell us the injuries suffered consist of moderate to minor facial lacerations.
"It was an extraction with somebody trapped under one of the vehicles. We have a 3-vehicle collision. 2 vehicles were resting in a pretty unstable fashion, with one on top of another. We were able to stabilize the pick up truck and remove one person from the red car," said Humboldt Bay Fire Battalion Chief Chris Jelinek.
The crash is still being investigated. At the time of this report, no arrests had been made.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
