Thursday in court the defense began calling witnesses, starting with Girard’s ex-wife and the mother of one of the Jane Doe victims. Tina St. James testified that the couple started arguing about money after Girard wanted to have elective “male enhancement” surgeries. She also testified that they decided to divorce because had moved what she called “another young girl” into their Kneeland home. The second witness called Thursday was St. James first husband James Bartlett. Testimony revealed Thursday that Bartlett is currently in state custody for molesting the two daughters he has with St. James, who are being called Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2 in the Girard trial.
