10,000 LBS. OF TRASH CLEANED OFF FORTUNA RIVER BAR

 10,000 pounds of garbage has been cleaned off of the river bar in Fortuna. The “before” and “after” pictures show the area that was cleaned near the Highway 101 Main Street off-ramp Saturday. River Life Foundation says they picked up 7,000 pounds of trash they took to an off-site dump. They also burned 3,000 more pounds on site. The foundation says almost 25 volunteers came out to help on Saturday. They started cleaning at 9 a.m. and some stayed until 4 p.m.  A foundation representative says the next clean up is scheduled for April 27th. . The location will be decided once the city of Fortuna moves on their “camping” ordinance next week.
