COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER TO KEEP EACH OTHER WARM

If it takes a village to raise a child, then the same goes for clothing one.
 
"The community really has this project working,” Coats For The Cold Founder Robert Lohn said. “It's not just me anymore. I'm just the first one."
 
Lohn said it’s all possible from help around the county— from the launder, to the storage and everything in between.
 
"You know we all go through hard times and suffer time-to-time and this makes it easier,” Roy Sandbank said. “It's just doing the right thing." 
 
Sandbank is with Teen Challenge and picks up coats every Wednesday.
 
"A lot of the bins are overflowing,” Sandbank said. “A lot of people want to give and that's a great thing for people who are cold this time of year."
 
Wednesday’s are also for handing out the coats. About six organizations came out today.
 
"We do this every Wednesday though the month of January into the second or third week of February," Lohn said.
 
The Redwood Community Action Agecny was one of them.
 
"We’re needing about 22 coats for the families that live in our shelter," said Rachel Wild.
 
Wild picked out coats last year and said this year they’ve put some more thought into it.
 
"We're just trying to think of who the people are trying to think of what they would like," Wild said.
 
She adds that having choices makes it all that more special.
 
"It’s amazing to see this turnout,” Wild said. “It's really awesome."
