LOLETA FIGHT: MAN SUFFERS SEVERE EYE INJURY

Loleta, CA- Sheriff deputies are investigating a fight that happened today in Loleta involving multiple men, an axe, and a drinking glass.

 
 
After a mid-day fight breaks out at a home located on Hay Rack Lane in Loleta, Sheriff deputies spend most of day trying to get the story straight.
 
Around 11 am, victim, Daniel Bird Jr. Showed up to Bear River Casino with a severe eye injury. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
 
His sister Kattie Yocum, says the fight stems from a family feud over money and stolen property. She says her brother was recently released from jail.
 
Youcum said, "Was threatening to hit me and is like where's everything I own you stole. It and I was like wait a minute your girlfriend had me put it away. It's safe.  And he's like well I’m going to go in a beat Wes up; and I was like don't dude, he didn't do anything."
 
Deputy reports indicate Bird was struck in the face with a drinking glass. His sister says his face was covered in blood.
 
“And I hope to god he can see,” said Youcum.
 

No arrests have been made because deputies do not know who started the fight. The case will be given to the district attorney’s office for further investigation.
