ECS: ENROLLMENT FINALIZED FOR WINSHIP, ZANE MIDDLE SCHOOLS

Enrollment numbers for the 2013-2014 school year at Winship and Zane Middle Schools are in. Two hundred sixty 6th and 7th grade students will attend Winship, and 550 will be enrolled at Zane. The Zane numbers reflect the enrollment of an 8th grade class. Eureka City Schools officials say it was an almost an equal amount of parents who wanted their children to go to Winship than did Zane. Eureka city schools has been swift in the process of reopening the Winship campus, teachers have already been hired for the upcoming school year. 
 
"Our leadership team at those two school will continue to develop the new model of education that we are going to provide to our middle schools," said superintendent Fred Van Vleck Wednesday.
 
School officials add that by the 2014-2015 school year they hope to have a balance of about 450 students at each school.
