Caltrans is starting emergency slide repair work today on Highway 101 near Crescent City. They will be working around the clock Friday through Sunday. They area they are working on started sliding in December due to weather conditions. The repairs being done will happen about a half-mile north of the Mill Creek Park entrance.  After 24-hour work this weekend, Monday work hours will be reduced to 7 am to 6 pm weekdays. One way traffic control will be in effect.

Starting next week in Humboldt County, construction work on the Mad River Bridges in McKinleyville will have Highway 101 down to one lane in each direction. Caltrans says they’re doing “punch work” just north of the Route 200 interchange. They will be working on guardrails and matting. The work will be Monday through Wednesday from 7:30 am to 5 pm. Caltrans says to expect slows in the area.
