Orleans, CA- Law enforcement agencies are looking for a suspect they believe hit a pedestrian Sunday in Orleans and fled the scene. The suspect is considered armed and possibly dangerous.

Around 1 o’clock Sunday morning, 25-year-old Virgil Martin was struck by a speeding truck on state highway 96.

“Witnesses came across the victim; what was determined to be mere moments after the collision,” said CHP officer Chase Adams.

The suspect vehicle has been located. Sean Hawk, CHP says, is still missing and wanted for questioning.

Adams said, "There are witness statements putting him in possession of .22 caliber rifle. So at this point he should be considered armed and potentially dangerous.”

Today in Orleans we ran into a family member and acquaintance of Sean Hawk. They paint him as an outstanding citizen.

"He'll take his shirt off his back to make you keep warm,” said Gary Leealbers Sr.
He claims to be Hawks’ cousin.

Gary said that if he knew his cousin’s whereabouts, he would not tell anyone. But the facts are he’s a suspect in a very serious crime, therefore authorities need to question him.

Cousin Gary may not be willing to give up his family member, but he does have some advice for the 27-year old: “I would tell him to turn himself in and step up to the plate.”
