WHIPPLE ARRAIGNED FOR BAYSHORE MALL STABBING
The suspect in the Bayshore Mall stabbing has been arraigned in a Humboldt County. Twenty-three year old William Whipple is facing charges of attempted murder with four special allegations: that the crime would be to the benefit of a gang, that he used a knife, there was great bodily injury, and he has prior convictions. Eureka Police arrested him Monday night after a fight outside the Bayshore Mall. Police say Whipple’s victim was in critical condition after having been stabbed multiple times. Whipple faces 15 years to life in prison for the special gang allegation. His lawyer says despite the 18th Street Gang tattoo on his face, she alleges he doesn’t know what that gang is. Whipple is expected back in court on February 22nd.
