FATHER KILLED WHILE WALKING: FAMILY SHARES HIS STORY

Orleans, CA- The man accused of a hit and run, killing Virgil Martin is still wanted by police.
 
"He liked to hunt and fish and hang out with his friends; A very vibrant young man," said Leaf Hillman, Martin’s uncle.
 
Martin’s main job was taking care of his kids. Martin leaves behind two young boys and a wife.
 
The 25 year-old, Karuk tribal member has lived in the small community of Orleans his entire life. With a population of about 600 people, every one knows everyone.
Around 1 am last Sunday, Leaf Hillman says Virgil was walking from a friend’s home to his father’s house.
 
"Said he wanted to clear his head a little bit and walk home and so that’s what he was doing."
 
Rumors have been circulating town that the elementary school has been on lock down due to alleged sightings of the suspect.
 
We spoke to the principal of Orleans Elementary. He says the school has
not been on lock down but they are keeping a close eye on all outside activity.
 
He released this statement:
“At this time we’re taking all the necessary and reasonable precautions to keep our school, staff, and students, safe.”
 
The suspect wanted in the case is Sean Hawk. Anyone with information is asked to call the California Highway Patrol.
