CRESCENT CITY, CA- In an effort to clean-up Del Norte County community groups are partnering up with Supervisor Roger Gitlin to ‘Take a Bite Out of Blight.’It’s a non-government community outreach effort to assist needy homeowners in cleaning up their properties. Supervisor Gitlin says there are homes that have been cited for too much trash and litter, but the homeowners are elderly or disabled and not able to clean it up. That's where the program comes in. Through grants and community donations they are looking to hire people who are chronically unemployed and need a job. They’re still in the processing of applying for grants but they hope to kick off the program in April.
