BREAKING: CRUISE SHIP "AMADEA" SKIPPING EUREKA

EUREKA -- It's news that will greatly affect the tourism plans here on the North Coast.

The cruise ship "Amadea" will not be stopping in Eureka due to what ship officials are calling "adverse weather and sea conditions" south of San Francisco.

Eureka Chamber of Commerce officials tell us those events have delayed the ship's schedule, and they have decided to head directly to Seattle.

As we've previously reported, "Amadea" was set to make port in Eureka this Friday.

There was a considerable local effort to welcome the ship, involving many organizations, businesses, and local governments -- but all of those plans will now have to change.

Commerce officials say with that effort, they'll be better prepared to welcome the next cruise ship that makes Eureka a port of call.
