TRINIDAD, CA- AFTER SERVING ONLY TWO MONTHS ON THE TRINIDAD CITY COUNCIL, MEMBER MARIA BAUMAN HAS RESIGNED. CITY OFFICIALS SAY THIS IS a big loss. they are now down to only 4 council MEMBERS, and with one out on sick leave the city only has 3 active members.
city OFFICIALS say they would like to fill the position as soon as possible, but with trinidad being such a small community they say it isn’t always an easy task. city law states that every council member must live inside the city LIMITS. MAYOR JULIE FULKERSON SAID, "Part of the problem in Trinidad is that many of the houses are not inhabited by residents day in and day out. Many of them are vacation rentals, and the actual owners who are paying property taxes, which we love. But they don't necessarily live in Trinidad. So they would not be eligible."
if you live inside the city limits and would like to apply, you can go to trinidad city hall to pick up an application.
