The suspect in a Petrolia shooting that left a victim with serious gunshot wounds has pleaded not guilty to his charges in a Humboldt County courtroom.
Evans Cook has been charged with Attempted Murder and Deliberate Premeditated Murder, with a special allegation that he caused great bodily injury. The conflict council was appointed to represent Cook in the matter. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office arrested Cook after learning he had shot at his landlord, Charles Hower, after a dispute on their property. Hower had to be flown out of the area for medical attention because of his gunshot wound. Cook’s bail has been set at half a million dollars.
