Budget talks took place in unique fashion last night across Humboldt County.

For the first time ever the Board of Supervisors held a live interactive web conference, allowing participants in all 5 districts to discuss the fiscal year 2013-2014 annual budget.

Links were set up at Hoopa High School, Ferndale High School, Blue Lake Elementary School, the Southern Humboldt Unified School District facility, and at the Humboldt County Office of Education.

County officials say it was vital to hear from the different communities, and the videoconferencing allowed for easy access.

Staff and officials gave presentations on revenues, expenses, and provided a 5-year forecast for the county’s finances.
