POLICE: STUDENT HIT, THROWN ACROSS INTERSECTION BY IMPAIRED DRIVER
A Eureka High School Student is thrown across an intersection after being hit by an impaired driver. It happened at the intersection of “I” and Del Norte streets around 1 Friday afternoon. Eureka Police say an officer witnessed the crash. They say the student was in a cross walk when the driver- who’s name has not been released yet- passed several other cars before hitting the student. The victim was conscious when medical personnel arrived but they say she could not remember details of the crash. After some field sobriety tests police say the driver was arrested for DUI causing injury. They believe she was under the influence of a controlled substance and has been jailed for the crash. The victim was taken to St. Joseph Hospital.
