SILVA PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO PREMEDITATED ATTEMPTED MURDER FOR RUN-OVER INCIDENT
A Eureka man arrested after allegedly running his victim over pleads not guilty to premeditated attempted murder. Eureka Police say there’s video evidence of the crime.
50-year-old Darren Silva was arrested late last week after an investigation by the Eureka Police Department. They say its Silva who drives his pickup over 50-year-old Margaret Contreras, leaving her in critical condition. Police say Silva saw Contreras, then drove around the block to catch up with her and commit the crime. Surveillance video shows the scene as it happened on Buhne Street in January.
Today in court Silva asked the judge to lower his bail amount from the half a million dollars he was booked on. The honorable Judge Dale Reinholtsen refused his request, calling him a “danger to the community.”
Silva will be back in court later this week for a preliminary hearing on the case.
