DISCUSSION OVER PUBLIC RESTROOMS AND COURTHOUSE GROUNDS, HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MEETS TOMORROW
Eureka, CA- Discussion over the courthouse grounds ordinance continues. The Humboldt County Human Rights Commission will be meeting tomorrow to continue the debate and talk about access to public restrooms.
They say most public restrooms close between 4pm and 6pm, and have limited access for the handicapped. Now they will be hearing a presentation about how public restrooms can become more accessible. They will also hear more on Ordinance 2488 that regulates access to the courthouse grounds. Commission Chairman James Rogers says he would like to repeal the ordinance all together. Rogers said, "We’ve been having this discussion for almost a year. And that discussion has largely revolved around the idea that repeal is important. To take away rights is not the root to make sure that people are not doing things that we do not like them to do in public."
The meeting is tomorrow night at 5pm at the county courthouse in conference room A.
